Are You Trying To Measure Up To Some Arbitrary Expectation?
Spending your life trying to measure up to someone else’s expectations or some self-imposed high bar that you have set can be very dangerous. While it is true that setting goals and developing action plans to achieve those goals is a good and proper way to manage life, we should be careful not to aspire to some false expectations for our lives. There are those who will never measure up to a set of standards that they have imposed on themselves in order to receive God’s love or forgiveness. The truth is that we can never measure up to earning God’s forgiveness; but we can be thankful because God forgives us through His grace and mercy. The apostle Paul writes in Titus 3:4 “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” If you are trying to jump through some false set of hoops that you have set up in order to earn God’s promise of eternity, OlyLife would like to offer you a chance to sit down and take a breather. Rest in the knowledge that it is by God’s grace alone that we are saved, accept His love which is freely given. When you do this, you can then honor God through your labors without carrying the burden of feeling like you can never measure up.

When we accept the promise that through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, our sins have been paid for, we are free to live a life where our best will measure up and is good enough. All that God requires of us is that we accept his grace and then we should honor him by following his commandments and roadmap for living as outlined in the Holy Bible. When we commit to give God our best effort each day and allow the Holy Spirit to help guide our thoughts and deeds, we are living a life that honors God. You measure up to the highest standard as you are a treasured child of God, so you already matter – nothing is more important. Your life will be blessed when you do your best with the gifts God has given you, while you remember that you are not shackled by some unattainable goal of perfection. Maybe God is speaking to you today saying, “Hey Listen Up – You Measure Up Already as my beloved child – now go and love one another as I have loved you.” OlyLife encourages you to accept God’s love in grace and mercy and live a life that honors Him.
