Avoid Peer Pressure: Never Be Afraid To Demonstrate Your Faith
Ever been around a peer group where you were afraid to contribute your views about a subject because you thought others would scoff at your faith? Perhaps you attended a party where drugs and alcohol were flowing and you felt too embarrassed to pass and reflect your beliefs, or maybe friends or co-workers were engaged in wrong-doing and you thought it best to stand by and not rock the boat. In these cases of peer pressure and other tests of faith, OlyLife encourages you to maintain a better spiritual path by heeding the words and example of the Apostle Paul when he says in Romans 1:16 -17 –
“I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes;…For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from the first to the last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.”
Stand up for your faith and don’t let yourself and your Heavenly Creator down by giving in to the crowd, but rather live and speak for the gospel.
It Is Not Easy To Swim Against Peer Pressure In The Age Of Social Media
Peer pressure is more powerful than ever with the advent of social media. In school, after school, at work, after work; it seems that folks are aware of what each other are or are not doing twenty four seven. The pressure to be “cool” is on longer as it seems that it is harder for folks to break away and live without the demands of living up to the online expectations of peers who want to know if you were invited to a party, did something exciting over the weekend, or are in the know on the latest group thinking.
With instant information at the fingertips, we have visibility to perhaps more than we ever need to or want to see and are bombarded with texts, pictures, facebook, google alerts, email, linked in requests, and e-vites etc. The pressure is on to conform to a culture that is often far from the ideals that we are taught in the gospel, but here OlyLife encourages you to be your own person and swim against the current and stand up to do the right thing and live by your faith as appropriate despite the pressures.
When you make spiritual based decisions and are not ashamed to do and say things according to your faith, you will stay out of trouble, walk a better God honoring spiritual path and be closer to making the most of your one and only life – That’s OlyLife!
