A Wise Son Heeds His Father’s Wisdom
As you seek to improve your spiritual walk, you should consider the Bible’s guidance which tells us that a father’s wisdom is important for instruction and a wise son listens to his father. Provers 13:1 states “A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.” All of us should consider the words of guidance that our father gives us and if we are listening carefully with discerning ears we can find the wisdom which may not be clear to us at first blush. Certainly, it is beneficial if we ultimately weigh our natural father’s words in the context of how our Father in heaven speaks to us in our hearts. If deep down we know that we deserve the rebuke and the instruction to do better, we should kindly accept the wisdom of our father.
Sometimes a Father Becomes Wiser As We Get Older
The above is a paraphrase of an often quoted adage by many fathers, however, there is some truth here. In our teens we can become rebellious and not see that the guidance we are being given by our parents is for our benefit. Sometimes, it is years later that we realize just how wise our parents were, or how foolish we were in our youth. Seek out your father’s wisdom on earth and also lean on the wisdom of your heavenly Father. Ask Him to guide your decision making process and you will indeed become wise.
